Class Information
Wednesday Folders
Student folders will go home every Wednesday. The folders contain all school and classroom information that needs to go home. Please check your child’s backpack every Wednesday for the folder and any papers that need to be signed and returned to school. Please send the folder back to school with your child the following Wednesday.
Lunch
Your child can bring his or her lunch or buy from school. Click on the icon to see the latest lunch menu and how to manage your account online.
Snack
First Graders are encouraged to bring in a personal snack for the morning and the afternoon. We will sometimes eat before going out to recess but often the children will eat their snacks while working. Simple, fruit and vegetable snacks work best for the classroom. You can also send in crunchy snacks that are easy to eat.
Homework
Being reflective and thoughtful to what research is telling us, the first-grade team has decided to not give paper homework this year. We will be sending home our Math Unit Family Letters each month to help provide you with additional math tools/actives that pair with what we are currently doing in the classroom. Instead of daily homework, we ask you to build routines at home to help your child develop time management skills, responsibility, and additional learning opportunities.
Birthdays
Birthdays in Room 104 are celebrated with books, cards and songs. On your child's birthday (or half birthday) I will invite you in to read one or two family favorites. The class with make cards and sing to the birthday boy or girl to add to the celebration. Please email me to set up a time to come in.

Monday and Thursday
We have a wonderful Lending Library that your child can check out books from. These books will be at their independent reading level to help build reading stamina and fluency. Please have your child read these books every night and make sure to return them in the red book bag twice a week so she or he can check out new ones!
